Michael J. Fox Foundation Board Member, Sonny Whelen, was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease eight years ago. An amateur turned professional race car driver, Sonny competed in a variety of racing series including the Viper Racing League, NARRA, the Pirelli World Challenge and the Grand Am Rolex Series. He competed with Marsh Racing in Vipers and Corvettes, and has won two national championships in the Viper Racing League, as well as finishing regularly in the top ten to fifteen in SCCA Pro Racing Series since 2005.
Sonny used his retirement from racing as a catalyst to promote awareness and raise money for the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research. Sonny joined Team Fox and created "Racing for a Cure" adding fundraisers to multiple racing-related events across the country. Thanks to an overwhelming response with many generous donations, Racing for a Cure has raised more than $332,000 to help the fight to find a cure for Parkinson's Disease.
This year, with your help, Sonny is hoping to surpass last year's total and bring us one more step to curing this disease. Please make a donation to Racing for a Cure.
